Biography

Margaret was born in the Memorial Hospital, North Adelaide, Australia; a baby boomer with inquisitive eyes.

She received a MA in history from the University of Adelaide, tumbling into a commissioned history, the week before submitting her thesis, in 1973.

Margaret's first book, a centenary history of The Adelaide Children's Hospital was published in 1975. In 1976 she had her first child

She followed this with the acclaimed 'Far from a Low Gutter Girl,' Oxford University Press, 1983, (and twin sons in 1984).

Margaret worked in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 1990 to 2009 and was posted to Malaysia and later the United Arab Emirates.

Margaret has published four novels, two children's books as well as essays, poetry and a number of short stories.

Margaret now lives in Drummoyne, Sydney.
