Love's Weeds

You think love is 
a flower, as touchy 
as a bruise, changing 
its colours day by day, 
as fragile as a crush. 


I know love is a 
weed, thick-stemmed 
springing from the 
gutter, calling 
through the dark, 
'alive, alive O'.
